Help with note pad...I can't read it?

OK, I don't know how this happened or when but there must be a Solution out there.

Every time note pad opens up a document it is all encrypted I can't seem to figure out how to fix this issue...it looks like jumbled pig latin or something strange all messed up, but no real words I can actually understand.

Can some one tell me how to fix this so I can read any thing in notepad...thanks

Update:

everything automaticly opens in notepad and I don't know how to stop it from doing that so I can open a document some other way...how do I stop every thing from opening in notepad so I can choose how to open it?

Hope you didnt give up after reading the first 3 replys

The problem is the computer thinks you want notepad to open everything so solution is to tell pc what programs open what files

You need to know what program you want to open what file extension.

    Assuming you have MS Office

Doc and Docs use Word, ppt pptx use power point, xls xlsx use excel

With windows 7 - click Start, Control Panel, Default Programs, Associate file type with program, once programs load - click program default and scroll down to notepad - Decide which ones you want to change - click on that program and then change button

hard to answer. not sure what ur doing. create a new txt file and type 'hi' and save. then open it. if it still says hi, your notepad is not broken. you're opening a file that is not meant for notepad. this is most likely what is happening.

if the very rare chance you note pad is broken, download notepad ++ it's free

if the file is no notepad compatible, very likely, then double check where you got the file and question compatibility thanks

Maybe even just restart your device. If that doesnt work look for settings or options to try to change something. Hope i helped! Good luck :D

You can't; you have to use the appropriate program
