Whats the difference in these two classes?
I've been avoiding Public Speaking at all costs, and yes, I know that you need it as a requirement for any sort of degree, but i've been holding off. I HATE public speaking, as most do. I'm too nervous for my own good. But for my pre-dental requisites it says I can have Public Speaking or Principles of Communication. So I was wondering if any of you knew what the difference was between the two? I have an advising appointment next week so of course i'll ask then, but i'm curious.

It's obvious what is Public Speaking. You will learn how to write public speeches, how to present oral presentations, and speaking in public.
Principles of Communication might be an academic class on the history and current modes of mass communication, which you won't be doing any public speaking, but watching a lot of videos and film.
Or it might be a class on human communication, which means learning effective communication talking to people personally one-on-one, in small groups, and in large groups, meaning a lot of talking.
Check your course description and syllabus if available for the classes to see what they cover to know for sure what the class is about. But since you say both classes are good for taking a Public Speaking requirement, then my guess is that it would be the later type for the communication class.
