Don't look and be very nice to the person drawing the blood. It is only a tiny sting. So be brave and treat yourself afterwards.

    Take care

getting blood drawn is just like getting a shot only difference is that the needle stays in for a little longer. If you dont like needles or if you dont like blood I would suggest looking away while they do it. It might help to have your parent there to talk to or just hold your hand. It doesnt hurt a quick pinch but if you stress yourself out before going its not going to be pleasant. All i can say is keep talking (to anyone, the nurse, parent) dont look and relax. It will be over in less then a minute. :D

Drink a lot of water the day before and morning of your lab draw. When you are dehydrated, the whole process takes longer and you're more likely to bruise or be pricked in multiple locations.

It's really not all that painful. You feel the needle go in, but it's a very short-lived sting. While the needle is in drawing blood, you can't feel anything. I find it helps to look away when the needle gets inserted because of the creepy factor.

Don't Worry. Be calm. I wanted to look at while the nurse would draw my blood but my mother held my face by my chin making sure i wouldn't look at. It doesn't really hurt. Only pinches a little and then its over. I did this very recently. I had to do it because i was operated from an inguinal hernia and I am 13 so i think you can handle it just fine. They but a tightened strap around your arm so that it doesn't hurt as much or something. Not sure.

Relax, drink water before (so that you're well hydrated), and not looking at the needle always helps me. You can usually have a friend or family member with you so you can talk to them and get them to distract you from getting your blood drawn.
