Adela is actually one of my favourite names :) It's sweet, short, and has some cute nicknames.
Adelaide is such a mouthful and sounds like lemonade or berryade. Not a fan.
BQ: I do NOT like Maisie. My old neighbors had a mean bulldog named Maisie.

I like Adela better, because you could use the nicknames Adele, or Ella. I think Adelaide sounds too much like type of jam.
BQ: I think the name Maisie is very cute and sweet, i like it.

Definately Adela!! That's beautiful! Adelaide is okay but it sounds like lemonaide to me...haha. But Adela is beautiful!
I personally love the name Maisie! I would spell it differently though. I would spell it Maci because I like names that end in I. <3

I like Adelaide. Adela doesn't seem complete for some reason...Adele is nicer but I still prefer Adelaide (really love this name)
BQ: It's very cute but I don't think it'd age well. My form tutor in secondary school had a daughter called Maisie -- the surname is Folds and I think Maisie Folds is ridiculously adorable.

Adelaide - it is more feminine and the name might have a patron behind it.
It doesn't sound old - more like antique and intelligent. Believe me Adela is a very plain name - she may have it as a nickname so yeah. its not like she will loose it :)
