Just bought a guitar, want some info about it?

Just bought what I believe is a 1999 Fender Stratocaster Plus Hardtail (no tremolo) in black pearl dust color with a black faceplate. Maple top, rosewood fretboard. Active custom EMG pickups. I believe I got a real steal on this. There are a couple of nicks in the body, but nothing more than expected from an instrument that's been played. What's the rarity of this specific model? I haven't seen very many Strat Pluses that are hardtail, much less any Strat. Any Fender experts out there?

Update:

Yeah, I'm pretty new to guitars to begin with, so no need to be a d*** :). I'm talking specifically about hardtails strat pluses, not strats in general. Thanks for a constructive response. I got a good deal on it regardless, I'd be able to sell it back for more than I paid for it immediately I'm sure.

If it is a genuine Stratocaster Plus, then it is indeed an excellent guitar - it's in perfect working order. It's true that there are a huge number of Strats with hardtail (got a couple myself). You are right though that there are likely far fewer as far as the Strat Plus goes.

Be aware that there is quite a number of forgeries with upscale Fender guitars. The decals and other bits and pieces are easy to make/fake and replace.

And as always - if the price is too good to be true (like you indicate: a steal), it probably isn't true... Hope yours is the exception to the rule.

****, dude. I haven't touched let alone seen a Fender Stratocaster in years...

  • Sorry to disappoint you but they are as common as flies in summer. I hope you got it for a good price though and that you have many years of enjoyment playing it.
