For what reason did the egyptians use different types of columns?

I am doing a project on the architecture of Egypt and I want to know why the egyptians didn't all use the same type of columns. There are many different types and I want to know what was the reasoning for using one type over another type of column.

They used models found in nature to represent the harmony between man and nature. The Papyrus column was the imitation in stone of the papyrus stem,(single or in a bundle) with typical wedge shaped cross-sections. The Papyrus Bundle column was the representation of several plant stems bound together. A typical column form under a capital which could be open or closed Papyrus flower, or open and closed lotus flower. In the Great Hypostyle Hall at Karnak, the capitals alternate, and it is still possible to see faint traces of the original colours that they were painted. Usage may have had religious and symbolic meaning, depending on the deity that the Temple was dedicated too.
