See my answer to your other question. Housing Authority does not rule out all people with prison records. They told me it depends on the nature of the crime and how long ago it happened. That is how they would base a decision to allow your friend to move in with her Mom.

As I said in my other answer, your friend must go through Mom's case worker at the HA and get approved and landlord must run credit check, etc.

As I told you, if Mom lets her move in without official approval, Mom can lose her voucher and be evicted since that would be a violation of Sec 8 housing.

Sounds like you have issues with SUB-LETTING/LEASING in your "family member's" lease. You would have to refer to the lease to find out about the issue concerning sub-letting/leasing. As for Section 8 housing, that only pays the rent bill and you may be subjecting your family member to issues if the landlord complains. There is always the possibility that the Sect. 8 tenant can request permission on their application/modification but I DON'T RECOMMEND THAT if you are already living there. You are responsible for the landlord's newly increased costs of utilities since you are there under no conditions under your family member's lease. If you are a run-away felon you should move on because it will cause issues for your "family member" if they catch you there for "aiding and ab-bedding a fugitive." This is a criminal offense. So is cheating the government from monies that they are using to HELP your FAMILY member.

Source(s): I am a LANDLORD and my parents rent HUD/SECTION 8 HOUSING. I hear all the horror stories!!

No one, felon or not, may live with someone who's on section who isn't listed on the application/voucher specifically. Doing so is government fraud and you can expect to py back every cent when found out plus additional fines. They're broke, they're looking for fraud and money the most now.
