A question about ACTIVE IMMUNITY?

As we know that, Active immunity is achieved after immune system is acted upon by antigens.

ut my question is- Why some vaccine provide lifetime immunity (like T.B., smallpox, chickenpox), and others provide for limited time (like- tetanus, rabbies etc).

Do the memory cell for different antigen have different life span or something ?

Update:

Please also explain, why do different diseases have difference in the timeline of their immunity in body!

Active immunization involves introducing/injecting antigens which trigger the lymphocytes to produce antibodies. These antigens are recognized by memory cells for whole life and any encounter with these antigens in future leads to production of antibodies. Thus the effects are life long.

When antibodies are introduced/injected for immunization, their effect is immediate but not long lasting because the body does not produce antibodies. The antibodies injected are destroyed in due course of time and the immunity diminishes. This is passive immunization.

Thus active immunization involves vaccination by antigens and is long lasting, while passive immunization involves immunization by antibodies/antiserum and is short lived.

Memory cells are modified specially for each type of antigen. But the memory is for life long.

    this is a good question.

active immunity is a immunity which is acquired by the action of an antigen.

If once we prone to a disease, the nature of antigen....all the information about a particular antigen is studied by memory T cells.Life span of memory T cells is about 2 years. If we attacked by same antigen

then it is identified by T cells, and kills antigen wheras for rabbies... vaccine can be in their active state only for the particular time.Afterwards they will lose their energy.
