Planning a stay in Paris?

My daughter and I are planning a trip to Paris in the spring. Of course we'll be using a travel agent, but can anyone recommend some good places for us to stay, so that I do a little research first? We have never travelled before, I don't drive, and it will be just me and my 10-year-old, so safety, and proximity to attractions are important to us. It doesn't have to be fancy, but clean and fairly modern would be preferred, and price is not a problem, we've put aside a good bit of money for the trip.

The perfect area t stay is near Notre Dame for me for you and your daughter.

My opinion is to stay to one of the below:

Holiday Inn Hi Paris-notre Dame Hotel

    Best Western Belloy Saint Germain

    Grand hotel

You can visit the below website in order to find the price you want.

    www.dhr.com

    www.booking.com

    Attractions that you must see:

    1.Louvre Museum (closed on Tuesday)

2.Gallery Lafayette (shopping mall) 16 min walk from Louvre Museum

3.Eiffel Tower (prefer to bye your ticket through their website beacuse there are a huge line)

4.Champs-Elysées including Arc de triomphe de l'Étoile (street with shop)

    5.Jardin du Luxembourg

    6.Notre Dame

7: Disneyland Paris (your daughter will love it)

If money is no object, I would definitely recommend something as close as possible to the Seine, the river which runs through the heart of the city. Some of the most breathtaking views of the capital are to be found there.

You certainly won't need to drive, by the way. Between the subway (métro) and the bus, getting around Paris is easy, since it's surprisingly compact for a city of over 2 million people. And with the exception of bad weather, it's a great city to explore on foot. As for day trips that do require a bit of travel (Château de Versailles, Château de Fontainebleau, Château de Chantilly, or even Chartres Cathedral), they're all easily reached by train.

I hope this helps and wish both of you a great trip.

i would stay on st. louie island. i stayed there and it is very nice and cute. there and bakeries and cute little stores everywhere. it is very close to notre dame and is just a nice place to stay. i would recommend going to the louvre early in the morning if you are planning on going, the line grows quickly. also, when you go to the eiffel tower, dont try to walk from the island, it is a few miles and very tiring, so i would get a metro pass. pick ppocketsare everywhere so keep your arm tightly over your purse, don't let go for the slightest bit, eespeciallywhile getting off the metro and while other people are getting off.

I agree - stick close to the Seine River: the Marais, the Left Bank and the Latin Quarter are good choices. Given the internet, I'm not sure you need a travel agent. Here's a few options for hotels:

BTW: Paris is a very safe city!

You don't need to drive in Paris, you can use the metro to get around, it's very fast and very convenient and cheap. Just watch out for pickpockets.
