because perhaps they think the elements used to form the earth are older than the earth itself so they dispute the age of the earth. for example carbon 14 was used on a "LIVING" mollusk and the age of the mollusk was said to be thousands of years old.....(Very doubtful seeing that it was still alive)."The troubles of the radiocarbon dating method are undeniably deep and serious.
