Need help choosing a laptop!?

Hi,

I am looking to purchase a new laptop. I'm looking for something as cheap as possible (i only have 1 semester of school left).

I'm an architecture student so i'm looking for something that can support graphic-intensive programs like autocad, photoshop, illustrator, rhino, etc. So something with a good graphics card and a decent processor.

Additional perks would be a CD-drive, HDMI output, and long battery life... But I understand that if I don't want to spend to much, I really can't be too picky.

My main concern is to be able to complete my portfolio without the computer crashing on me!

Model suggestions with a link or price range would really be appreciated. Thanks!

Also, just as a note, at this time I don't think I can afford a mac... so that's sadly not really an option.

Dell is a safe way to go, good products and good customer support. The prices are reasonable as well for the hardware in the XPS series. It's not fantastic, but like you said, you're on a budget.

    1) RAM should be 2GB or more

    2) Processor needs to be dual-core

    3) The graphics card (aka GPU, VPU, Video card, gfx card) needs to be a Radeon or nVidia brand. Personality
