Help! My Dell desktop computer crashed!?
The other day my computer was working completely fine. The next morning I try to turn it on (it's a dell desktop) and it won't boot up. Instead, the power button is an amber/orange color (instead of the regular green) and the fanning is getting progressively louder. Nothing shows up on the monitor. Please help!
1 AnswerDesktops10 years agoNeed help choosing a laptop!?
Hi,
I am looking to purchase a new laptop. I'm looking for something as cheap as possible (i only have 1 semester of school left).
I'm an architecture student so i'm looking for something that can support graphic-intensive programs like autocad, photoshop, illustrator, rhino, etc. So something with a good graphics card and a decent processor.
Additional perks would be a CD-drive, HDMI output, and long battery life... But I understand that if I don't want to spend to much, I really can't be too picky.
My main concern is to be able to complete my portfolio without the computer crashing on me!
Model suggestions with a link or price range would really be appreciated. Thanks!
Also, just as a note, at this time I don't think I can afford a mac... so that's sadly not really an option.
3 AnswersLaptops & Notebooks10 years agoPRINTER HELP!?! PAPER JAM! (Brother MFC-6490CW)?
Hi, I have the Brother MFC-6490CW printer. It's a great printer however, the other day I fed some loose leaf line paper in it, because I had run out of regular white printer paper. I didn't think this would be a big deal since my last printer printed on lined paper all of the time. However the moment it fed through, there was a paper jam, I'm assuming because the paper was so thin? So the manual told me to open the back of the printer and the scanner lid to remove the paper, which I did, pulling it through that back slot. The paper ended up tearing in a few pieces, but I'm pretty sure I got all of it, I don't see any more. Now however, I'm trying to print something, on regular white paper, and it keeps jamming. Basically, the paper will be fed through, but stop right at the rollers through which the paper has to get through in order to be printed on. How do I unjam my printer? I realize it was stupid to feed non-white computer paper, but I had no idea it was so sensitive. Any help would be greatly appreciated, especially since I've only had this printer for about a month.
4 AnswersPrinters1 decade agoGood Toronto Pubs with Patio?
Hi, I'm planning on celebrating my birthday at a pub with about 15-20 friends. I'm a university student, and most of my friends are too. Because of the nice weather lately, I'm looking for a pub that'll have enough room (in the patio area, or inside) for everyone and that's generally relaxed. Some pubs I like include the green room, (but more so the red room), and even the lab- just casual places. If you have any suggestions of chill pubs in toronto, especially with patios, please share!

Hi,
one of my good friend's birthday is coming up and I need a gift! I was thinking of baking something, any ideas? I'm not an experienced baker so I can't make anything too advanced but I have baked the basics (cookies, brownies) before. Does anyone have any really good recipes? Please suggest recipes you have tried or ones that have reviews. Thanks!

3 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoAmerican Credit Cards for Canadian students?
Hi! I'm a resident of New York state but am going to university in Canada. I plan to come back to the states for graduate school and went to canada because it was the least expensive of my education options. But because I want to establish credit in America, I'd like to get an American credit card. The problem is that I do not work and am a student but on all of the student credit card applications, they ask for a school in the united states. Mine however, is in canada. I have also tried applying for regular credit cards (not for students) but have been rejected because I do not have any credit history. Does any one know of a credit card company that would be willing to give me a credit card? Please help. I'd like to get this taken care of before going back to school in the fall. Thanks.
1 AnswerCredit1 decade agoYellow spheres on plant?
I just purchased these plants and just realised that there are these yellow spheres all over one of them. The spheres are small about 1 mm in diameter, if not less and when you squeeze one, a liquid comes out. They're also loose, and not attached to any part of the plant, it's more like it's been sprinkled with these yellow bubbles. I'm wondering if these are insect eggs or something else?
3 AnswersGarden & Landscape1 decade agowhat does this phrase/saying mean?
I just finished reading Sam Lipsyte's book, "Home Land" and there is one character ("Daddy Miner") who is always saying to his son "Gravy boat, stay in the now!" I think I'd like to use this phrase in the essay I have to write about the book but I have absolutely no clue what it means. I googled it but all I can find is blogs with that title... So if it's a real phrase, please let me know what it means and its context. But if it isn't real (just something made up by the author), please tell me possible interpretations. Thanks!
3 AnswersWords & Wordplay1 decade agoNightclubs in toronto?
I'll be having a 19th birthday celebration in Toronto and was wondering which clubs would be good for people of my age group. I've been to circa, this is london, and cabana all before and liked circa (but the weekend of my party there's a concert there) and this is london (though for This is London it was an all ages event and I hear that usually it tends to draw a slightly older and more sophisticated crowd). I was thinking of going to the Guvernment, but want to know if it's appropriate for my age group. By the way, my friends and I are cheap university students but like to go to a nice place once in a while. Basically I don't want to end up taking my friends to a place with older and really wealthy, trendy people but I do want it to be a club that is nice, and requires some dressing up. So if you could please suggest some clubs in toronto and describe what the scene is like. Thanks!

Please help me think of ideas! (If you know the area, Specific names of places would be apprecitaed too)
3 AnswersToronto1 decade agoEnglish (and Linguistics?)?
Hi, I'm wondering if anyone knows the technical term for words having the "S" sound like "slither," "see," "silence," etc. I'm also wondering if this term applies to words with the "S" sound in the middle of the word, like "voicelessness," and "lace" (even though it has a "C"). Thanks!
1 AnswerLanguages1 decade agoIs it okay to eat moldy cheese?
A week ago I bought Provolone cheese. Normally it lasts me at least two weeks and then just turns hard around the edges. But this time it molded and there are white spots mostly on the edges and on some areas in the middle of the slice. Is it still okay to eat if I cut out the moldy parts? I was planning on melting it by frying it and using it for a recipe. Thanks!
7 AnswersOther - Food & Drink1 decade agoWhat's healthier, yogurt or millk?
Is it healthier to eat 2% milk or fat free yogurt? I always thought yogurt was worse because it's made out of milk but then again it has 0% milk fat. And I know some people who eat cereal with yogurt instead of milk. Which is better for you?

3 AnswersOther - Destinations1 decade agoVideo Project Ideas?
I'm in a video productions class and I have an assignment to make a short film about anything. The only mandatory thing is that we must reverse all of the footage (so, for example, if i want it to look like the actor is walking normally, while filming he must really be walking backwards). I really really need help coming up with an idea for the plot, please keep in mind that all of the acting will be done backwards. Thanks!
