Intel® HD Graphics with up to 1696MB total graphics memory. This any good?

I'm trying to get a better laptop. Maybe one capable of playing slightly higher end games. I don't need to play Crisis on max. Just something that will be able to handle some games competently. Like Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Skyrim. Things like this. In your opinions would it be capable of playing these?

You would be lucky to play those games on low with intel integrated graphics.

"up to 1696mb video memory" = marketing scam

integrated graphics use your ram for their memory. So you can allocate ram to them. That computer would be able to allocate up to 1686mb of ram to video memory. (you have to do it, it wont do it by default).

But that is pretty much irrelevant. Video memory really actually have almost no affect on actual performance. you can have 1tb of video memory with integrated graphics and still not be able to play skyrim on lowest settings.

There is much more to graphics then video memory. manly its based on the number of processing cores and shader/core clocks of the card. which i believe intel hd has about like 16 processing cores, where as the min cards required to play newer games need probably like 160. (which would be equivalent to a 6450/6470m).

If you want to play games, id suggest you look for a laptop with atleast a 6470m graphics chipset.
