I'm transitioning from relaxed to natural hair. HELP!?

ive now decided that i want to go natural. i havent had a relaxer in 3 months now. i have been doing the same thing to my hair, which is washing it weekly and flat ironing it. but i havent straightened it in about a week now. i can see at the back of my neck, where the baby hairs are, that the hair is getting a different texture, which is progress to me. basically im just asking for a few tips and tricks from you all, different things you think i should do. Thank you all .

First of all . . . . The hair industry is a billion dollar business, they sell products that cleans & condition the hair. They also sell products that damage and causes hair loss. They also DO NOT give money back guarantee for damaged hair or hair loss due to 'abuse'. Mechanical, chemical, or thermal styling. Hair straighteners and relaxers top the hair products pose the greatest risks. Hair relaxers, related products marketed heavily to African-American women, are dangerous because they may contain powerful chemicals such as lye, a toxic substance also used in drain cleaners.

If you're planning to go natural from relaxed, using heating tools is not going to make the new hairs healthy.

This is what you should ONLY be doing to your hair.

Shampoo & condition the hair as usual, every 4-7 days, but continue to trim off the damaged hair, allowing new growth to take over. Use GENTLE shampoo. Applying a small drop amount of oil to wet hair can also act as a leave-in conditioner and provides excellent conditioning in preparation for the next shampooing.

I have been natural now for 9 months almost 10, and it has been a wonderful but really hard journey. For me I stopped relaxing May of last year. I grew up my hair and I would always straighten my natural hair with my relaxed so it would match. I chopped all the relaxed ends off in February, and my natural hair was so short and extremely dry. What I recommend is that you just stop straightening your hair period! Because it's damaging your natural ends and when you go and finally decide to get the relaxed ends cut, the stylist will probably cut a lot of the natural ends off because it's so dry and unhealthy. I recommend you try different hair styles that does not involve heat what so ever. so maybe put your hair in a pony tail, buns, two strand twist, braids, etc. Do anything you can to not use heat. As for products, I recommend garnier fructis moisture for shampoo and aussie moist conditioner. Those work very well. For products I recommend Shea Moisture products. Their leave in conditioner works well and try out their other products, they are natural and a lot of naturals use this :) Do a hot oil treatment once a week with hot olive oil, put that into your scalp and comb it all over your hair and then wear a shower cap for 15 min and then wash it out. Also deep condition your hair, that's important to keep your natural hair moisturized

One thing I also recommend is that you should probably cut your relaxed ends as soon as possible, even though you might have really really short hair for a little while, your hair will grow much healthier and thicker that way, instead of having the relaxed ends to take care of. After I chopped my hair, it grew so much faster, I couldn't believe it.

Anyways good luck with everything :)
