My albino cory catfish is barely moving. Is he okay?
Regulus did move when I scooted the plant next to him over, and his gills move and he makes the "suck" face sometimes. He also occasionally moves his eye to look at my finger when I move it by him on the outside of the glass.
I have him in a 10 gallon tank with a Silver Lyretail Mollie right now. I will be adding a few more fish in a week or so after the tank has stabilized entirely (it sat for a week running with no fish in it and it had not had any fish in it in years before we set it up again). Lyra seems perfectly happy and is swimming around investigating everything. I'm really quite worried about Regulus though because he was very energetic when we brought him home yesterday. After having read that corys need a buddy, I think I'll be dropping one of my other planned fish and getting a peppered cory as a buddy for him instead (since it's apparent that Lyra doesn't need one, she's been super independent ever since we got her home). Do you think that's what could be wrong, that he's lonely?

It could be! Corydoras Catfish are extremely social fish and love to live with groups of 2+ of their own species. I have 2 peppered cory's myself and i never see them apart from one another. Its either that or he's weak. Have you bought any Algae Wafers? If you havent, then i really recommend them. Cory's love them! Cory's spend all their time searching for food in the gravel/stone etc but if there's a shortage of food that its looking for he might become tired and hungry (they love their food). I can't see it being anything serious. But then again, if you've only had him 1 day then it might be that he just wants a day of doing nothing. It seems stupid but fish have similar feelings and thoughts as humans or any other animal. Remember, that he has travelled a fair way for a small fish and had to endure the stress of the journey to his new tank. Think of it as a trans-atlantic flight. Humans get jet-lag; fish get stressed. Same principle really. So just leave him for a couple of days. Maybe introduce a friend for him and make sure that they are fed when they should be. Just dont overfeed them as that can lead to constipation and bad ammonia, nitrate levels which is bad for all types of fish. Hope this helps! (:-P
