Figure out what you pay- 30%
Round the cost- $200
Multiply cost by percent- 3x200=600
Move over decimal over one spot- 60.00
There is also an easier way
Round cost- $200
What you pay- 30%
Multiply cost by 10%- 20.00
Multiply that by 3 (to make 30%)- 60.00
You would multiply by 4 to make 40%, 5 to make 50%, etc...

If the percent is in multiples of ten it makes it very simple.
To find 10 percent of something you just move the decimal back.
10% of 187 is 18.7. You could multiply this by 7 and subtract it from the total but in this case its easier to just multiply it by 3 (since you are paying 30% of the price if its 70% off since 100-70=30).
18.7 *3 is exactly $56.10. But if you're doing a quick estimate in your head you might just round up (18.7 is close to 20) Its easy to do 20 *3 (thats 60 since 2*3 is 6). So you know that the price is just a little less than $60. Or if you have a calculator on your phone you could use it. But maybe you don't have a cell phone.
Seriously? Why the thumbs down?

take 70 cents off every dollar
start with 50 cents cause that is easy/half about $93
then take 20 cents from every dollar, of that - which would be subtracting about 18.60
given you a quick guestimate of $81

Do 187.00 ( the amount of money it costs) and multiply it by .70 Take that number, and subtract it my 187.00 The final number will be how much your thingie costs. Or, just multiply 187.00 by .30
