You can discuss a contract with a minor all you want.

In the US, however, minors can disavow contracts, even if they sign with their parents present. If you're an adult, and make a contract with a minor, you are legally obligated to hold up your end of the contract. The minor, however, can say "I'm a minor, and I don't want to be held to this contract" and simply walk away without fulfilling his/her end with no penalties at all. It's LEGAL for a minor to sign a contract, but it's not binding upon the minor.

So, don't have the minor sign the contract unless you also get an adult's signature. Have the adult promise IN WRITING to fulfill the contract if the minor can't or won't.

A contract signed by a minor is "voidable." That means *you* have to live up to your part of the contract, but the minor doesn't. That's one reason a minor can't get a credit card- the minor doesn't have to pay the money back.

A contract is "void" if it's for an illegal purpose (murder) because you can't expect someone to break the law just to fulfill the terms of the contract.

A contract can be valid if it involves a minor, but there are a ton of caveats. Best bet- don't look for legal advice here. Get a real attorney familiar with the field that the contract involves.

One last comment- if you think that paying a minor $10 to mow your lawn is a contract, you're

right. But the scope is so inconsequential that you're probably OK to do so. Any time you have money dealings with a minor, it's always good to make sure the parents are aware of the deal and happy with the terms.

Your question is a bit vague. Can a contract signed by a minor be discussed? Sure. You and another adult can discuss it. But getting a minor to sign is a waste of time and paper. Get a real attorney to discuss that contract. ... Take care!

it is fairly unlawful to have intercourse with a minor, yet discussing intercourse for tutorial purposes only can't be unlawful, or we would have jails crammed with instructors, parents, docs, and ministers. nonetheless, if she takes suggestion from you and gets in worry later, some might carry you to blame. In our litigagous society, i will think of of a number of techniques it may come out badly. Grandpa

You have freedom of speech under the First Amendment. You can discuss almost anything with anyone. The First Amendment is in the Bill of Rights in the U.S. Constitution. Tough to find...very.
