why blame rumpelstiltskin?

why do people blame rumpeltiltskin for asking for the baby in the fairy tale??? how come they put all the responsibility on him when everyone else in the story was just as irresponsible or even more about their promises?

Great question, and one I've thought about myself. The story itself, a children's story, takes away from what most people want to teach their children about responsibility and making promises.

The girl is in need, and Rumpelstiltskin comes to aid her in that time of need...but requests something from her in return that once it comes to pass, she's not willing to give up. So he also offers her the opportunity to get off free and clear, by guessing his name.

To me, this is very similar to "Repo Games" (newish show on whatever channel it's on), where people wanted a car, then decided they don't want to pay for it. Repo games shows up and offer an opportunity to people who've ALREADY agreed to pay the loan, but didn't, to answer a few simple questions (though the people are usually pretty stupid) and get off without paying a dime if they can answer 3 of 5...or, they lose their car (which they already agreed to when signing the loan).

The difference with Rumpelstiltskin, is that the woman was trapped into the agreement, and did what she felt she had to at the time to survive. Her situation was desperate. Still...Rumpelstiltskin came in to save her day, when there was no reasonable hope...so to blame him for her unfortunate circumstances, or to see him as the "bad guy" is just wrong.

The message that this "twisted" story sends, is not a positive one no matter how you look at it.

its the fourth and final chapter in the story of the ogre Shrek and his adventures. From a much feared ogre living in the swamp to rescuing and marrying the Princess Fiona of Far Far Away land, Shrek has lived no ordinary ogre life. However, post-marriage with several kids, he has become quite domesticated. Yearning for his earlier days when he was still just another ogre living in the swamp, he gets an offer from Rumpelstiltskin he cannot refuse.

Blaming Shrek for losing the opportunity to become king of Far Far Away land, Rumpelstiltskin is out for revenge. He entices Shrek to sign a contract where Rumpelstiltskin will give Shrek one day to be a "real" ogre again in exchange for erasing a day from Shrek's childhood that he would not remember. It turns out that is the day that Shrek was born!

shrek told him he wants to return back to his home.......sooo sence he tricked him and lied he gets blamed because it is his fault...

Source(s): if u had a day were u just wanted a brake for 1 day , and soeone came up to u with a contract saying ill give you one free day if you give up this... and you say ok . then you say as long as i come back though .. ok you singed the paper hier your 1 free day then you find out that you not comming back , unless you do this? and he lied to you and tricked you....yup yup.
