So I've heard people say that The Velvet Underground and The Stooges created punk. I love VU, but I don't listen to much of Iggy Pop and the Stooges. Do they sound alike at all? What would be some good songs to start off with them? I know The Passenger and Lust For Life, that's about it.

The songs you mentioned are solo Iggy Pop songs, The Stooges are something else entirely...
