My 2004 Honda CR-V died in intersection, just the engine though.. lights were still on etc. I turned the key?
to the off position then started it again, it started right up. Yes it had a half a tank of gas. I do need an oil change, but i'm only like 200 or 300 miles behind on it. I do think it smells like burning oil though.
Does anyone know what this could be? I plan to take it for an oil change Saturday, but I would like an idea of possibilities because I know nothing about cars and the dealership sees me coming
Mr.619 its 11 pm where I live and everything is closed for the day so yes I came here for advice.. Why do you have to be a jerk? I'm worried because I take very good care of my car and I have never had that happen to me so it's natural to worry about what might be wrong. The holidays are right around the corner and I just had a baby so I'm worried I may have a large unexpected car bill... So excuse me for wanting some kindness and advice..
Why are there people in this world who have to make things harder? Mr. 619 you seriously have made a heavy load heavier with your attitude, geez I just want to catch a break
MORE INFO- no shaking, no smoke just stalled while I was stopped with no prior sign of trouble really. I could not change gear either so I turned the car off then back on at which point it started up fine and I could continue home.

Your car died in the middle of an intersection and the first thing you do is log on to yahoo answers to ask for advice? How did you get a driver's license??

You need more details. Did your rpms shoot up or down? Did you see any smoke (if so what color)? Was the car shaking?
More common causes for sudden car death: Bad fuel pump or fuel filter. Clogged air filter, air intake/manifold, timing belt or chain off, bad ignition, possible overheat causing the car to shut off to prevent damage (cooling system issues), one of your hoses could have dry rotted (and is preventing correct air pressure), a damage sensor, and last of all a bad fusee.
You need to take a close look at your car symptomss and check your engine for possible wear and tear.

You probably just stalled. I have the same car, and it's got a TON of miles on it and runs great.
