Why do people ask stupid questions?
I do not understand why people ask questions that can easily be answered, why do they not just type what they are looking for in a search engine?
For example its obvious they are doing a research assignment for school and all they have to do is read maybe 2 paragraphs on Wikipedia or another site for their answers.. instead of that they ask here risking false information... i do not understand why?
Kylie, do you realize their is something called a search engine... Yahoo has one, Google has one, Microsoft has one... Yahoo.com, Google.com, MSN.com. You see you go to these websites you type in what you are researching or want to know and a vast amount of websites show up, with vasts amount of information that involves READING. Threw this READING, you will find the information you are looking for, by doing this over and over again you get better at researching what you are looking for, you learn how to phrase your searches to get the best results.
By learning to look up and read stuff on your own, you gain something called a skill. So from easy assignments in high school you learn how to research... by the time you get to college or university you will be great at it, its the same on learning how to use a LIBRARY....
Kylie if my words were to big for you please tell me ill simplify it for you...
As for Yahoo answers points..... lol... what is this a game or competition to g

I've noticed lately that students are extremely wary of using Google or Wikipedia to research facts, and I can only assume these sites have been vilified as unreliable, and/or banned for use as sources by teachers, so having no where else to go to find real answers as determined by the consensus of experts, as you'd find on Wikipedia, or from scientific journals or summaries of same in news articles as you'd find in a Google search, students come here for random people's opinions. It's sad really, and must be stopped.

One of my favorite stupide questions was asked by a visitor to a Gettysburg battlefield guide. They wondered: Why were so many Civil War battles fought in national parks?

Probably because people like to put up a question then sit around and wait for the answer. I guess it's easier to let someone else do the work for them.
