How to eat less on Thanksgiving with out my parents worrying?
I have never been diagnosed with an eating disorder, but my therapist agrees that I show the symptoms, like anxiety about eating, over-exercising to rid myself of calories, and purging. I've been getting better, but lately I've been slightly regressing. I am worried that if I eat a lot today, I will want to purge. But if I don't eat the amount my parents want, then they start to worry that I'm starving myself again. What should I do? All answers are welcomed and appreciated.
(I know starving yourself and purging is bad, but it's a mental thing... I feel like I NEED to do it.)
Haha, no my parents are not church-going, soft, worrying losers. I've been through lots of mental health issues, like cutting and such, so they just worry about me a lot. They think I'm replacing one self-harm with another. :/

Could you talk to someone who will be eating with you and ask for support? Maybe your mom could agree on how much you should eat. Of course starving and purging is unhealthy, but it's just something you're dealing with. It doesn't define you. Be bold and ask for help.

You know what you should do, don't starve yourself. You don't need to do it. But I would say just take normal portions of food instead of Thanksgiving-sized ones and talk a lot while eating slowly. It will seem like you're eating as much as everyone else! :)

You're anorexic? Trust me, that will kill you. Literally. Just try to get the appropriate amount of calories.
