What are the beautiful/good and the ugly/bad aspects of the Ecuadorian culture ?
I guess that would help to understand better the culture of where I live now.

The most interesting part of Ecuadorian culture, in my view, is the fascinating fusion of spanish/catholic/european influences with the historic inca/indo traditions. I love that great Ecuadorian modern artists, like Guayasamin, live in a modernist world, but one that's influenced in its sense of place by the history.
I also love the rugged natural ambience of Ecuador, with its Andean highlands, volcanos, snowy peaks, contrasted with the jungles of the Amazonian basin and the rocky coastal lowlands of the Pacific coast. (Not to mention the unique ecosystem of the Galapagos).
Lots to love about Ecuadorian culture....LOTS!

First of all, Ecuador is NOT a province of Peru and has been a country for nearly 200 years!!!
The good part of the culture is the relaxed, friendly atmosphere. People live less chaotically and have more time to just sit and chat. The culture is also very diverse, it feels like 100s of countries in one. If you're Christian, it's easier over there as so many people are and talking about faith isn't weird or unwelcome. If you're not, no one will force you to convert (in my experience). The lanscape is incredible too.
The bad part is alcoholism, corruption, sexism and gossip (which sometimes has no baring on reality whatsoever).
I love Ecuador though (especially the Amazon Region) and am going back asap!

The good things I think is that they are warm and helpful people, maybe the bad things is that they tend to be conservative on some aspects
