    Average 87 in 4 tests means a total of 87 X 4 = 348

    87 + 81 + 88 = 256

    348 - 256 = 92

    ANSWER is D

    Simple:

    (87 + 81 + 88 + x) / 4 = 87

    Solve for x

    D. is your choice ( x = 92)

Arithmetic Mean = (All test scores added up)/(# of test scores)

    There are four test scores

Use x for the fourth test score.

    Therefore, we have (87 + 81 + 88 + x)/4 = 87

    That's your equation.
