I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we had to replace the factory radio in our 2000 Honda Civic following some front end work - for the same reason. We bought the car used and did not receive the card that provides the code for the radio. Apparently, Honda has a "security" mechanism built into the radios that if the power to the car is disconnected, you HAVE to enter the code to get the radio back operational. Without the card, the only thing that you can do is take the radio out of the car, get its serial number and contact a Honda dealer with that and the car's VIN number. They should be able to track down the code with that information. My salesman told me the only way to do it was to bring the car in to service and have them remove the radio....for a fee, of course. Rather than the hassle and the cost, we replaced the whole system. Hope that helps. Either way, good luck getting the music back.

Honda has a sneaky way of adding that code in inconspicuous places should one ever need it. On my civic there is a sticker on the inside lid of the glovebox lid that has the 5 digit code on it. It is the same code that is on my radio ID card that came with the car. Alternatively, you will need to take it to a dealership and they can run your VIN and get your code. No big deal at all. Also, the code is NOT written on the radio itself, that defeats the purpose of the anti theft feature. And they only need your VIN if its the original radio that came with your car. They do NOT need to remove the radio from the dash. If they say they do for a fee, they're trying to gouge you out of some money.
