Did any pirates ever encounter Stereotypical Irish Celts when they landed ashore in Ireland?

I have asked this and questioned this before. Grace O Malley was a pirate queen in Ireland, and she had a castle in Ireland. Pirates were in Ireland by all many reasons. One reason is that is where pirates were. In fact, a lot of pirates settled the Atlantic Coast and the West Indies that were Irish and English, they even settled the Gulf of Mexico ranging from Louisiana to even Mexico that were typical Irish Privateers. I have never heard of any pirates from Ireland that walked by any pubs. However, I have actually heard of where there were, in fact, pubs where Irish Celts that wear tweed colorful round newsboy caps and wool sweaters and pirates as they did in-fact went into pubs in Jolly Old Ireland and drank. I think that I may have heard that. In Ireland, Celtics dates back to Viking times, yet, were even during the Golden Age of Piracy. Shepherds were also a part of Ireland's history. So, did any Celtics and pirates intermingle when pirates landed ashore?

Celts were prehistoric peoples, but truth of the matter is that no one in Ireland called themselves a 'celt' till after 1700! By the times you are talking about, although the Irish people were the descendants of the prehistoric tribes of Ireland (of course) they were not living or dressing as their ancient ancestors did! So yes, pirates would have encountered 'celtic' people but if you are imagining spear-waving, painted tribesfolk, you are way off target!

If you're talking a about any pirates that would have existed in the 17th century there wouldn't have been any natives to worry about. By the end of the 16th century most of the Indians in the Caribbean had been enslaved and then died from over work and the White Mans diseases. They had long since been replaced on the plantations with Black Slaves.

Wow. You only actually THINK you know something about Irish history. Hearing bits and pieces doesn't constitute knowledge, pet.

If pirates came ashore, you can bet they met the local people, but whether they were "Stereotypical Irish Celts" ..... sin scéal eile (that's another story). And it is anybody's guess how much "intermingling" went on.

Grace O'Malley the pirate queen had more than one castle. Here are some I located .... and there could be more

    Kildavnet, Achill Island

    Clare Island http://www.google.ie/imgres?imgurl=http://kevinmur...

Rockfleet Castle (also called Carraigahowley Castle), near Newport

    Bunowen Castle, near Clifden, Co.Galway

This castle at Ballynahinch also showed up in a google search for Grace O’Malley castles

I don't believe everything I hear .... sometimes messages can become garbled .... a bit like this question.
