Whats the difference between a Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 and a Intel Core i5?

I have a few computer questions. I had a computer with a Intel Core Duo T9300 w/ 2.5GHz processor now I want a computer with a Intel Core i5 @ 2.4 GHz processor. WHich would be a better processor? Also, would a Intel Core i7 processor at 2.1GHz be faster then both? I need help because I want the fastest processor out of the three. I'm leaning towards the i5 processor more because it it more affordable so please let me know if it is faster then the first one! Thanks!!!

The core "i" series is probably one of the fastest out there for sure. DON'T stick with core duo because that's what I had in my previous laptop and it sucked. Just stay with i5...I have a friend who has i7 and another who has i5 and I don't really see a HUGE difference in it. Unless you're a professional and hardcore gamer (even in that case you won't see a difference), I don't think you're gonna see that much of a difference...

You remind me of myself when I first wanted an i7 so bad but now I have a computer passed on from my dad (i3) and it's awesome! I never thought I was gonna say that....So for a guy like you I think i5 would be perfect plus you said it costs less!

P.S. You HAVE to look at the overall computer specifications....don't just go by the processor state and decide what computer to get

Unless you are doing huge spreadsheet calculations or serious video editing the core i5 will be faster.
