I have no idea why not, or how you get one! ... If I had asked that particular question,, I think I would tend to go with an answerer who has achieved that badge, & also gives reference to what Yahoo says about this. ........... One thing I Can tell you for sure about the Top Contributer badge is;; that they are definitely NOT awarded to people who show any degree of intelligence! .. I'm not pointing the finger,, but just flick around the categories & have a look at the Top Contributers for yourself. More often than not, the best & most intelligent answers given are by people on the lower levels with just a few points to their name,, so it must have something to do with how regular a person is. (yeah, just like going to the toilet, regular is better.) ... Oh,, sincerest apologies to any top contributer who also is a very intelligent person. I was speaking generally.::::::::::::: EDIT :::: Definition of "Expert",, 'a drip under pressure."............. Aho decides who is & is not an "expert" on any subject anyway? .... Many frequent responses on the 1 category, do NOT automatically indicate that the person concerned really knows what he or she is talking about, or that the person is correct. ... I personally would never claim to be an "expert" on anything, even if it were true. Who am I to say that I am, or you to say that I am not? do you see what i mean?

  • According to Y!A : "A "Top Contributor" is a member of the Yahoo Answers community who has shown that they are knowledgeable in a certain category. Each user can be a top contributor in a maximum three categories. You earn it or lose it depending on your recent participation in a certain section. The more positively you contribute, the more chance there is that you will get a TC badge. Just like featured users or category leaders, it's another way to give credit to community members."

Y!A has never said what the precise requirements are. It's commonly accepted that you need to answer a lot of questions (50?, 100?, who knows...) in a category and get Best Answers on a certain percent of them (probably 10-15%) each week.

You can have TC badges in up to 3 categories at a time. There is no TC badge for the Jokes & Riddles and Polls & Surveys categories.

TC badges are based on your recent activity, not your level or total points, how long you've been here or your overall BA %.

Only Yahoo knows the reason. It's really no big deal. Yahoo has a secret complicated formula involving percentages and best answers to arrive at how someone receives the designation. There are lots of rumours as to what that percentage is but in fact, only YA knows for sure and they aren't telling. One Monday morning the day updating is done you log in and surprise you are a TC. The best way to earn it is to concentrate on answering in up to three categories where you might have some knowledge. if you don't keep your percentage up you can lose the designation. There are no special privileges. In reality having the designation can sometimes be a problem since there are trolls out there who constantly look for violations or perceived violations by TCs to report their posts.

You need consistent effort in 1 or more categories to earn them and have to be earned weekly.

They will only show three like mine, but I could claim 4-5 as there are two sections I frequent as well so I am often surprised at the start of the week as there may be a change of those listed and if I have been lax may only have 2-1-0, and have found it then takes a week or two to earn them back.

You answer questions in a variety of categories, is the main reason.

A top contributor has a certain (unknown) percentage

of best answers in one category- per week.

You get the badge weekly..not permanently.

Yahoo doesnt give the specifics on how they decide

A Top Contributor is an expert in from one to three categories. It is available in every category and sub category except "polls & surveys" and "jokes & riddles". The exact qualifications are kept secret and no one can say for sure. It is a high current percentage and quantity of best answers in a category. Badges are issued every Monday morning. Once you get the badge you must keep up your activity in the category or you will lose it.

as quickly as you attain point 5, you haven't any longer have been given any LIMITS IN ANSWERING QUESTIONS. one hundred-two hundred an afternoon is easy. TECHNICALLY it rather is 1000PTS minimum. SO MATHEMATICALLY it rather is available TO GET 10,000 PTS a week. inspite of the reality that confident, THERE ARE game enthusiasts WHO USE diverse IDS to grant THEMSELVES perfect solutions OR VOTE for their solutions FOR QUESTIONS IN balloting.
