Do you say "in my day". Do you realize your day is "right now"?
I hate it when my kids say "in your day " What was it like, etc I tell them it is "My day right now. I am not dead yet"
How about you? Or do you say it yourself and why?

Walked into Baby Doe's in Atlanta decades ago. It had a gift shop right up front. Saw nothing through the glass but one thing, as if it were a magnet, way up high on the wall at the ceiling. Clerk had to get the ladder. Wooden hand-painted plaque, said THESE Are the Good Ole Days. It's still in my kitchen.

I usually have said, "When I was young". Or, "when I was a teenager". When I have said, "Back in
my day", I meant," when I was young" I may still be living, but "my day" meant when I was young
and carefree, without the stresses I had as the years wore on. Plus, I had dreams of things I wanted
to do in life. But never did.

Its no more than a figure of speech.
My co workers and I getting closer to retirement seem to use "back in the day" a lot.

I usually say it when talking to someone much younger than I am, in reference to how things were when I was their age.

I do not get all bent out of shape about it. I probably did the same thing to my parents when I was young!

All they mean is when you were young.
I don't think they are being unkind.
