Surprise Party for Brother?

Hey!

my brother is turning 18 in January and I was going to plan a surprise paintball party, I am going to invite a few people from our karate class but I don't know how to tell them they would have to pay for themselves, I don't have the money to pay for them but I don't want to be rude, this is my brothers first surprise party so I really want these people to come, so how could I word it in the invitations?

Thanks for any help :)

Update:

Oh, by the way, I will be supplying the nibbles, cake and drinks :)

I have been in this situation before, where I was invited to a birthday party where I had to pay for my own food. The invitations were made at home and just above RSVP was "Price: $25". I did find it strange but accepted it for what it was. Having said that, I was one of only a few people who actually turned up and I think it was partly because people didn't want to have to pay and some people may consider it a little rude (just depends on the individual).

So, my advice would be to be aware that most people generally don't like having to pay for themselves to go to a party, so you may want to make it up to them by paying for the food, drinks and other supplies and only have them pay the entry fee (for example). Another option could be to save up more money to help pay or find a cheaper option for the birthday party. If you really want to have the party at the paintball place, then I would also privately speak to the people you want to invite and see if they are okay with paying for themselves before organising anything.

When it comes to asking people to pay for themselves, it's always awkward but just be honest and explain you can't afford it but would really love to throw the party and would love it if they could all help out a little so you can all have a great time.

I hope this helps in some way. Good luck!

Do the living house up like a action picture theatre, do tickets on the door, set up a projector and tutor movies, popkorn, and candy... pass on your community video shop and notice in the event that they have any previous action picture posters you may post interior the living house, perhaps you may desire to post a hollywood action picture banner, and do a hollywood stroll of popularity with stars on the floor...
