Does fake leather use animal skin too?

Question

We all know that leather is made from animal skin(mainly cow skin) but is fake leather made from animal skin too?.  Also does fake leather use any animal hide in its processing and making?.  I've also seen that there are many types of fake leather.  The reason I'm asking is because I wanna get rid of all my leather items like belts,wallets,and,shoes and replace them with their non leather versions.  Is fake leather vegan?  If not,what is the alternative to leather for a vegan?

hi, not sure about what is used.  but you should keep the leather products you already have in my opinion, the animal already died and you'd be just throwing away something that could be used.  just make better purchases in the future.   im an animal lover, and on the same page as you.

I don't think fake leather uses any form of animal skin, so it's vegetarian and vegan-friendly.

I wouldn't get rid of the leather products if I were you - as someone else said it's a waste - BUT you could always sell them, like on eBay or something if you're not comfortable owning leather items.

Fake leather, artificial leather or "Pleather" is something I don't know a whole lot about, but I guess it's made from plastics for the most part. Heres the wiki for it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artificial_leather

i don't get it -vegetarians buy things that simulate meat -nut CUTLETS-soya MINCE-quorn CHICKEN and don't get me going with linda mccartney now it's leather GET YOUR OWN THINGS lol
