Remember when I asked this question?

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Aso_S...

Now that we're on the verge of this actually happening, what do you think of it? Are LSU and Alabama the two best teams in the country? I think that fact is undeniable. While the game may be another defensive stalemate in which neither team scores a touchdown and heads to overtime locked at 6-6, I think you've got a true national championship. However, I don't think this is going to be an emerging trend. In the SEC's string of 5 (now 6) national championships, only this year do I believe two of its teams to be the two best in the nation. Even when Alabama and Florida matched up as 1-2 in the SEC title game, I never felt the loser still was the second best team around.

Is this a trend or an anomaly? Do you like it?

Most importantly, who will win?

Update:

Thanks for the insightful answers, guys. You clearly know your football.

it will not be a trend. and although i think it should happen, i'm not positive it will. rember in '06 when everybody thought it would be an OSU-michigan rematch? well, the reason it wasn't was because the voters outside of big ten country didn't want a rematch. and it may happen again this year, regardless of the fact that they are obviously the two best teams in the country. i am an SEC fan who is all for this, but i hope it will not be a trend.

I guess I didn't see that first question....sorry so many questions.

My thoughts are simple: There is no way in H E double Hockey Sticks Alabama doesn't deserve a rematch. They are undefeated other than an OT loss to the unanimous number one...you can't write a better script!

As for your question, yes, I do think LSU and Alabama are the best teams. In fact, I feel bad that LSU has had to play all theses games. They were the best two weeks ago before crushing Arkansas and now they still have to play Georgia in Atlanta!!! I'll say you can put a little bit of an * by Bama but they've basically crushed everyone except LSU of course.

I don't like it at all and I believe that we need a playoff system. I just wrote an article about this topic for my blog at http://bikinihill.blogspot.com/ if you're interested in reading it. I don't have any problems with the specific schools involved, but I think that voting teams into the national championship game is a joke.

Not to be rude but I really don't care. There are way more teams in the country I am interested in then the SEC.
