Age never matters when you have your heart set on a goal. Good luck! I hope you try learning

Having a musical background will certainly help; You can already read sheet music, and you have the rudiments down.
I would say, however, that age does matter to a degree.
For children, whose minds are like sponges, learning an instrument or musical theory is a faster process. At a certain age, the mind's ability to develop muscle memory and learning seems to slow down.
I don't mean to discourage you: it will be by no means impossible to learn to play, or even difficult if you're really interested. Just don't expect to fly through it the way you used to.

If you can still play guitar, violin should be no problem. Age really makes no difference. Fingering positions are different and bow technique as well. Best to find a player to help you get started if you are serious. Good luck!

Sounds like your a spry 70 yr. old. I bet your allot of fun too. My hubby just got me my violin last year so I could learn to play. I love it. I'm gettin' on up there in age (but a lady never tells her age, wink), and the only trouble I have is in my joints and the fact that have short fingers. So I just play what sounds and feels good to me. Have fun with it. Ya never know, maybe next week you'll get the urge to play the drums. ;o)

It's only too late if you're six feet under. Get yourself a fiddle and go for it; after all, if you fail, then you're no worse off than you are at this moment, so what have you got to lose? ;-)

No age doesn't matter; if you mentally think you can't do it then you can, if you don't it will be hard.. Just believe in yourself.

A violin is murder - but give it a shot. Don't expect too much.
