Imagine the world without religion...?

No 9/11, 7/7, suicide bombers, Crusades, witch-hunts, Gunpowder Plot, Indian partition, Israeli/Palestinian wars, Serb/Croat/Muslim massacres, persecution of Jews as 'Christ-killers', Northern Ireland troubles, 'honour killings', shiny-suited bouffant-haired televangelists fleecing gullible people of their money, Taliban blowing up ancient statues, public beheadings of blasphemers....

Imagine all the lives that would be saved. Wouldn't society be in a better and more advanced state?

You're 100% correct, that would be a better world. Most of the violences are caused on the basis of religion.

Sure, life without religion sounds good when you say it like that, but without religion I believe the world would also be a worse place. Religion gives sooo many people hope and something to believe in. Don't get me wrong, I'm not that religious but I believe in many of the morals associated with religion. Where would the world be without the charity and selfless actions of these people.

To be honest all those things you listed are horrible, I know sorta cause I live in Northern Ireland which doesn't really fit into this catagorey, but do the benefits not outweigh the bad points?

Massive Overpopulation, and lots of traffic.

Hmmm maybe Religion has a Purpose.

Kinda like why we having Hunting Seasons for

to keep the local animal populations down

so the goddamn deer don't run out in front

    of cars and cause accidents.

    The Northern Ireland troubles?

The troubles are or were between Unionists and Nationalists, Not between Catholics and Protestants. It Just happens to be the case that most Unionists are Protestants and most Nationalists are Catholic.

The media just use the whole catholic protestant thing to save themselves from havin to explain it.

for the last time THE TROUBLES IN HE NORTH OF IRELAND WERE NOT ABOUT RELIGION!!! they were about political and cultural identity, but for some reason people in america like to blame every conflict on religion because its the lazy way out instead of actually having to study the conflict.

We are who we are because of religion. If we did not have it, we would have had no bases for moral deeds and we would have killed one another long time ago. In other word, we would not be here.

Nice try... but you forget about all the wars fought for resources. Don't ignore history.

Also, partial birth abortion has nothing to do with religion and that's just nasty.

exactly. We are to live our life on our own, believe in ourselves and think for ourselves. And not to follow a book. We should have faith and trust in our self.
