It's fine to leave it plugged in, because in the 21st century, charger circuitry has reached the level where the adaptor stops charging the battery once it's full, and just functions as a power pack for the computer. You can check this by seeing what the battery icon indicates. When it's charging, it has a different icon to when it is just being powered by the adaptor, and when you point at it with the mouse, it will tell you what it's doing. Mine currently says, "plugged in, not charging."
It is a good idea to drain the battery once every month or so, and then fully recharge it, so that it will continue to hold a good charge for many years.

The computer manufactures will tell you no that it is not good for it.
My wife started using her laptop as a desktop in February 2010 and it's
not been unplugged since except for 3 days when went on a 3 day get away. It still works perfectly fine. It is 6 years old and still has the battery
and AC/charger/adapter that came with it. It has never gave any trouble and still runs like new. It's a Dell Inspiron. That why I like Dell.

When I first got my laptop I always kept it plugged in and didn't think anything bad of it. Now I have to keep the charger on my laptop or else it will die within 5 min off the charger. So it ruined my battery and I learned my lesson!

Yes your draining the amount of time the battery will stay charged when it is not plugged in. This goes the same with all rechargeable items. Once it is fully charged unplug it; this will increase the lifetime of the battery.

yes and no....
it's ok to leave your laptop charging overnight and even days but it's not good for your battery to use the laptop with the cord connect for hour than a hour cause it'll drain the battery and won't hold charge too good in the long run
