What does "holding" mean in a case brief?

I'm writing a case brief for my Business Law class and I'm really in over my head! There's a section in the template labeled "holding" - what does this mean? What goes here?

"Holding" is another word for "the decision", typically followed by the reason or rule.

For example, "the court held the defendant responsible for the damage because he was negligent".

The Court's decision, what the Court held on the issue before it in the case.
