Can landlord change pet policies mid-lease and force me to get rid of my dogs?
I signed a lease in Dallas, TX in November 2014 for one year. At the time of lease I signed an animal addendum for 2 dogs - a boxer/lab mix (Rebel) and an australian shepherd mix (Shiner).
Rebel is a model pet. Shiner is a very skittish animal. While he has never bitten or attacked anyone, he does bark and snarl. That said - I have never received any written complaints from management over my dog being a nuisance. Two days ago he had an incident on property. During a walk he snarled at the assistant manager who was passing by. She became frightened and freaked out and said she had gotten complaints but never said anything because she'd never observed it and insisted I muzzle the dog while out and about. I apologized and told her he was harmless, just loud and that he was skittish due to being a rescue and that I would get a muzzle (I did. That night.)
Yesterday a mass notice was delivered to the community stating new stipulations:
No rescue dogs
Limited number of aggressive breeds on property
Pets must submit to a pet interview
The community is doing a "pet audit" and I presume they will be asking owners to give up pets who don't meet new criteria. The timing seems utterly suspicious and I feel very targeted.
BOTH dogs are rescues. This was not a problem at lease signing.
Shiner, while leash-aggressive and snappy is not a dangerous or on any "aggressive breed" list. I have actively taken measures to comply with my one verbal (not written) complaint.
19 AnswersRenting & Real Estate6 years agoI'm planing to take a shot to calm my nerves?
To calm my nerves before a test (I have major test anxiety) it has been suggested that I take a shot of alcohol to calm my nerves before the test. I only plan on taking one shot, just to get the relaxing effects - I do not intend to get plastered and I am of legal drinking age.
I am 23 years old, 95 lbs and female. My test is at 2PM. When should I take the shot for the best results?

7 AnswersCooking & Recipes9 years agoLost defensive driving records? Can this be dismissed?
In January 2012, I was issued a speeding ticket. I was ordered to take defensive driving and paid the associated fees. I completed the defensive driving, online, and was issued 2 certificates of completion (1 court copy, 1 insurance copy) that have the dates of completion on them. I mailed off the court copy to the municipal court along with my driving record. I still have the insurance copy on hand.
I received a notice of a court date, today, for failure to complete/submit my proof of completing a defensive driving court and not submitting the driving record. Because I mailed it can this be dismissed? Especially since I have an insurance copy that can prove I completed the defensive driving in time?
I'm sure they get this excuse all of the time but since I have the proof of completion is there any chance? To be safe, should I get a new copy of the driving record?
I didn't think to make copies and have "proof" that I sent it aside from keeping the insurance copy on hand.
3 AnswersInsurance & Registration9 years agoSearching for silver serving platters?
I am a part of a sorority and to commemorate our graduating members, they are presented with silver platters. In the past we have used the "silver beaded chargers" from Things Remembered. However, this item is no longer being sold. I'm searching for replacements now! The platters should be rounded, silver, and able to be engraved. They should also be no more than $30/item (not counting engraving) Where could I find this?
1 AnswerFriends9 years agoPuppy has diarrhea. What could be wrong?
I have a puppy (boxer mix) who is, roughly, 4-5 months old. He has had 2 of 3 of his Parvo etc shots and is due for his next round soon. He eats Diamond Puppy Food and has since I got him. His bags have NOT been included in the voluntary recall.
Recently, I have noticed something that concerns me: in the morning, my puppy's stool is soft and runny (pudding consistency,) But only in the morning. As the day goes on, my puppy's movements are solid and normal. This is the third morning where this has happened and I plan on seeing a vet TODAY. However, I am curious to know before I go in what could be wrong.
His behavior is completely normal. He is eating regularly, drinking regularly (perhaps a little more than usual since I make sure to keep him hydrated since I know how quickly diarrhea can dehydrate a puppy,) and playing regularly. He seems to be in absolutely NO discomfort - right after diarrhea in the morning he will bound out and about in the yard playing tag with my other dog.
I do not suspect Parvo - as I have said, he is not behind on shots and we have not taken him ANYWHERE outside of our backyard because he has not had all of his rounds.
I should note that my puppy does have a habit of getting into things he shouldn't - he loves to eat my shoes and I caught him eating a pair the night before last. But after eating my shoes the other day I cannot think of anything he might have gotten into.
When I took him outside for the last time last night (11:45 or so, PM) his stool was solid, This morning I took him out at 6 AM and it was pudding consistency. This has been on-going for 3 days now (today is the third morning where this has happened) and I will reiterate that we are seeing the vet this afternoon.
Any ideas?
3 AnswersDogs9 years agoMy puppy has a balding patch on his ear...what is it?
My puppy is about 12 weeks old (give or take) and is a Pit-mix. He seems to be in good health and the vet had no comments when we took him for his first check-up and had him wormed. However, he has recently began balding on one ear.
He has not been scratching himself excessively.
What could this be from and how should I go about treating?
We have a vet appointment next week (Thursday) to get him his vaccinations could this wait until then or do we need to go to a vet as soon as we can? His appetite is good, he seems to be in no pain or discomfort. Aside from the balding patch on his ear he has nothing to indicate something might be wrong.
2 AnswersDogs9 years agoShedding? Allergies? Mange? HELP!?
I have a Aussie mix who is roughly a year old. Lately, I have noticed he has been very itchy. So itchy, in fact, that he had chewed a bald patch at the base of his tail. After some worry about what this could be (allergies? mange? hot spot?) we took him to the vet and determined he had some fleas that he was allergic to. A flea bath, a dose of Capstar, and an application of Frontline later we assumed that we had gotten rid of the fleas. But he's still itchy! The bald patch is growing back and we've been giving him Benadryl but I've noticed that there is a TON of his fur around lately. When I was brushing him, the brush would come up full of his fur and it's all over my bedroom floor. It's not in huge clumps or anything, though.
Because he is still scratching, I'm concerned about allergies and maybe even mange but could it be shedding?
I plan on taking him to the vet on Monday morning, to assure everyone. He has been on the same food for more than 4 months and only recently began itching (1.5 weeks). He does have a flea allergy and although he's on Frontline, I guess it's possible he still has them but I haven't seen any.
What should I do?

2 AnswersOther - Beauty & Style10 years agoHelp! My room is way too dusty!?
My bedroom is so dusty! I feel like everytime I turn around I'm having to dust!
I live in an old, pier-and-beam house. We do not have central heat and air, so we use window units and personal heaters - we have no air vents, so changing filters isn't an option. I clean out the vent of my window unit every other week, and I clean my ceiling fan and personal fan as needed.
How can I help make my room a little less dusty?

16 AnswersDogs10 years agoDog throwing up but seems fine otherwise?
My aussie-mix (about 6 months old) has thrown up twice. The first time was at, roughly, 1:30 AM. The vomit was yellow liquid but not foamy. He had not eaten since 3PM when I fed him his lunch. After some investigating I found that he had not been fed dinner and wondered if he threw up because he was hungry?
The second time he threw up was at about 7:00AM and not long after I had fed him his breakfast. The vomit this time was some of the yellow stuff mixed with full pieces of his kibble.
My dog is fed 3 cups of kibble (Diamond Naturals Beef Meal & Rice) a day, if that helps anything, and he gets water too (naturally.)
He seems fine other than him having thrown up? Should I be worried?

2 AnswersOther - Business & Finance10 years agoHELP! Separation anxiety leading to chewing?
I have a 5-6 month old Aussie mix named Shiner. He is well cared for, fed three times a day on a schedule, and given water frequently. It's been hot (110+ degrees) so we have not been going on walks, so this COULD be a sign that he isn't getting enough exercise but I do make a point to keep him exercised. He is being fed Diamond Naturals pet food.
I work an average of 20 hours a week and sometimes have 8 hour shifts, leaving Shiner for 9 hours. (30 minutes for travel, each way.) I do not work everyday - I typically have 2 days off a week, and my shifts are usually 5 hours long. I used to leave him in his crate but felt bad about that so, instead, I keep him in my room when I go to work. My roommate works also, but not typically the same shifts so she lets him out to go to the restroom and then keeps him out of the room to play with her dog.
Unfortunately, she was not able to do that today. I returned home and found that Shiner had chewed up a patch of carpet in my room. Most of the carpet was nearby - I don't think he swallowed much but I am still taking him to the vet tomorrow morning to be sure it doesn't cause any blockage.
He also, previously, gnawed on the drawer of my dresser.
What can I do to help him when I go away? I leave him a variety of toys (squeaky plushes and ropes, mostly) and keep the TV on. What else can I do to keep him from destroying my room? He's a very good dog other than this.
2 AnswersDogs10 years agoWhere can I get reasonably priced, cute ceramic dog bowls?
My puppy (a 5-6 month old Aussie mix) has completely chewed his plastic dish up! I'm thinking it's time to get something that he can't chew up but that is also cute, and reasonably priced. I saw some bowls for upwards of $20 each and think that's ridiculous.
8 AnswersDogs10 years agoAny idea what breeds my dog might be mixed with?
I adopted my 5-6 month old dog and he was labeled as an "Australian Shepherd mix."
As he gets older, I'm becoming curious about what he may be mixed with. He's fairly small - not a toy dog, by any means but he isn't very big, either. He has long legs and his fur is darkening. I'm including some pictures so that I can get some ideas about what other people think.
