you can check if it is on the BlackList

Short answer, no there really isn't a way to find out who owns an email address. As curious as someone might get, opening an unfamiliar email is not recommended. Why take the chance?

A lot of spam email comes from computer generated email addresses or is spread through infected computers that aren't maintained. You're better off blocking the unfamiliar email address instead of letting your curiosity get the better of you.
