What is the nature of energy experienced occasionally in silent groups of meditation?
It's nature
it's origin, channelled by a person, the group or from god knows where
Is it coming at random or under special conditions
Benefits and dangers ( it is quite delicious so it may be addicting and interpreted by god knows what?
I experienced this several times and it was felt by the group in general. I experienced this in different areas, yoga class, cistercians monastery so it does not manifest in a special chosen group .
Should we just enjoy the moment, investigate it or pass through it
Can some experts channel that energy at will and for what purpose?
Is it useful
Thank you for your presence. I just felt like sitting in silence with you all and instead of choosing one of you I will choose someone who is suffering and send him all your good thoughts
@ Stephen I appreciate the details in your answer and you precisely clarify all my questions.
@ After some cogitation, it is false to say that I will send your good toughts for they are already there and they will help the whole universe.

It's seem to me that a lot of people experience that type of energy but simply do not understand it and beleive that it is possible only in their specific religion or groups. Stephen explains it very well.
Very inspiring communion!

There is energy in community and the community is the entire universe.
This can be reflected in a group.
Against that there are things like negative bias, confirmation bias and group think, which can result in a group feeling togetherness but feeling separate from everything else.
To understand what it means is to extrapolate and generalise and find it in the relationship with the whole of reality, in a way that is calm and contentment and neither overblown attachment to or detachment from any particular thing, So nothing is left out, and the total connection is strengthened both with all and with the source of all, so the good seeds may grow drawing back into essence and nearer to source, while spreading through and growing and reaching out into all of reality.
There are three ways to channel, what's good for all, what's good for a group, what's good for an individual. Only the first one is ultimately real and is without a sense of separation, so the channel of energy is with truth and universal love and everything is real. The others are partially disconnected and transiently experiential.
All can channel, there is will and purpose, and all can accept limitation in that purpose, or proceed to
exercise of full free will = full responsibility. In connection with the intrinsic/source/all good, the energy is combined with love and truth and all embracing.
We can do all kinds of things with will of mind, and "experts" can fall short of the goal. But an expert has no need to be "expert" and frees others to discover and do the same.
Reactions include instinctive, fight, flight, deception/self-deception, submission. These can leave people subjugated to "experts" for a time, whose expertise is limited or counterproductive, and not attuned with reality in totality. But these are steps on a journey in discovering expertise without "expertise". There is nothing to be proven, as the nature of what may be regarded as channelling is that expertise is somewhere else. It's the universally positive intention and human will attached to that, from a place of calm and contentment that makes the difference.
So the group is not a special chosen group. It is individual and all. But a group may provide glimpses, as in a garden nursery. But in reality there are no garden walls.
Energy is neutral, it's the intention and will from a place of calm and balance via which it laced with love. So the human expert is not the expert, but applies energy with positive purpose including touching the student so they may recognise they are own experts too and can do the same.
All who are ready are chosen and choose themselves. It is not big or small, but in between. So that it may be more centred in the whole of reality, with the channel from a mystery through and in all directions with positive intention i.e. with objective truth and love.
The energy is flowing all the time on many levels of subtlety through to the physical, but it it is the intention without limitation that is the factor that converts it.
It is nature and it is origin, because origin is expressed everywhere, and all energy and effects prompt back toward origin and self-awareness/awareness and recognition and expansive inclusion.

This energy comes from a vortex of energy which responds to the universe`s energy including yours.
That which you feel is guidance if you will responding to your personal requests or focus. It is as if you directed your TV receiver to channel 7 specifically. The information being received by that receiver would be channel 7 and not another. The same applies to every other creature or thing which exists. Whether your focus is on positive or negative things is immaterial. The subject or vibrational speed of that focus determines what message is received by you. Sometimes it is called inspiration. It is always available.

The objective of yoga as a discipline is to lead a person to the spiritual experience of being "yoked" to or merged with a superhuman spirit. But which spirit would that be?
In Hindu World, author Benjamin Walker says of yoga: "It may have been an early system of magical ritualism, and yoga still retains in its meaning an overtone of occultism and sorcery." Hindu philosophers admit that the practice of yoga can give supernatural powers, even though they usually claim that this is not the ultimate goal of yoga. For example, in the book Indian Philosophy, former president of India, Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, says of the yogi that "control of the body through postures results in an indifference to the extremes of heat and cold. . . . The yogin can see and hear at a distance . . . Transmission of thought from one individual to another without the intervention of the normal communicating mechanisms is quite possible. . . . The yogi can make his body invisible."
According to Patañjali, yoga is "a methodical effort to attain perfection, through the control of the different elements of human nature, physical and psychical." From its inception until the present time, yoga has been an integral part of Eastern religions, now particularly Hinduism, Jainism, and Buddhism. Some practicers of yoga believe that it will lead them to attain moksha, or liberation, through a merging with an all-pervading spirit.
So once again we ask: 'Can yoga be practiced simply as a physical exercise to develop a healthy body and a relaxed mind, without any involvement with religion?' In view of its background, the answer would have to be no.

Personally I would call the Higher Power God and would consider the energy which as you know can be neither created nor destroyed, a gift of love and grace from God. I don't consider that addicting. To seek Joy through Contemplation and Prayer is not the exercise of an addict who has no focus but to attain their bliss through whatever substance or medium. there is no stillness and contemplation.
i.e. some of these responses make me nervous "it doesn't matter if it's positive or negative energy" Oh really? I beg to differ. who on earth wants to bring more negative energy to focus into the world.

Group activity can enable people to open the feeling of togetherness because they feel validated by the others. This validation feeling is most effective when it is non-verbal. in those situations we can overcome the defense of the ego that is created bythe evolutionary necessity of defending the individual.
Humans walk a dichotomy between defense of the self and coherent cooperation.
We know intellectually that we are part of the whole, but the eyes can't see the connections. Visual input overrides. In some group occasions, the togetherness can overcome this lack of connection awareness. The resultant feeling of openness is like a peak experience.
You can see a discussion of a visual method to achieve this effect on my blog, I am still adding images to it.

This 'energy' you speak of while meditating is manifold and shifts in consciousness can and often do occur. So there is no one answer too your question, since one individuals reality is different from another individuals reality, which nonetheless does not make it wrong because it does not agree with the former.
These shifts in consciousness are like fleeting moments of enlightenment, of revelation, they are times when an idea, long thought out, has finally been resolved. Such moves in consciousness lift the individual spirit higher so that by gradual degrees, he inner spirit continually evolves towards light and truth. These spiritual shifts are noticeable in that the head becomes light, the mind crystal clear and the colours around one take on a new sharpness. It’s as though one were seeing everything for the very first time in perfect clarity. It is in this brief flash of enlightenment one knows without question they have hit upon something new and wonderful. Alas, just when one has understood the given lesson within such a moment and is about to grasp it, it becomes quite intangible, its just so damn frustrating at times! We are of course able to adhere to such lesson’s from time to time, but because we are human, the emotions will always surface within our walk in life as though life itself were playing tricks upon us by causing time itself to appear to stand still, and mistakes will be made. Yet, the experience remains and ones soul is richer for it.

I think, it is the energy of consciousness.
It is easy to experience it in a group of meditation
or in the presence of an enlightened master.
Meditation definitely creates conditions suitable for it's survival.
Yes, enlightened masters,
who does not possess the false ego
and are awaken about the existential truth
can channel this energy at will.

The nature of such group participation aids both the individual and the group in the propagation of "Unity Consciousness".
Individual desires become diminished when one participates within a highly focused group.
What one is actually experiencing within the group is not actual energy, but a state of communion.
Within this state of communion one is actually beginning to experience, "inner contentment".
Individual desires are diminished and individual contentment is being formed and developed.
Some have called this unique awareness, "Bliss".
One will come to understand this, as a truth, if one is graced with the opportunity of being in the presence of a human being that has discarded all desires.
One that has discarded all desires can function as an "Axis", a center of focus.
One whose intention is to aid and serve other human beings.
One such as this would be 'a light shining in the darkness'.
What is this special energy that you speak of?
It is indeed very intoxicating.
This old fool experienced something similar, when practicing Biofeedback.
This old fool experienced something similar, when practicing Transcendental Meditation (TM).
Being around Sages, Yogi's, Swami's, Guru's, Indian Medicine Men (Shamans), will allow one to experience such things.
Yet the primary question still remains!
How does a human being go about turning this fleeting state of awareness into a permanent state of awareness, within a human being?
In times past a few human beings have achieved this permanent state of awareness.
Silence at times can be a most deafening sound.
One must develop the ability to listen carefully to silence,
The deafening sound that is found within silence finally allows one to experience the state of unthinking.
When one stops thinking, what happens to ones desires?
The desires have a tendency to disappear, if only for a 'brief moment'!
That 'moment' will gradually increase.
It's within that 'moment' that one will experience "Contentment".
"Pure Contentment" is the mysterious energy that you speak of...
The mysterious energy that will allow one...
to 'just be content' with what ever may happen within the next "Moment"...
That is when one will observe and taste "Inner Peace".
May we all discover, That Most Mysterious Energy.
Peace be always with you.

When a group comes together in silence & stillness of mind something wonderful & amazing happens.
In that silence & stillness the many come closer to being the one, & each will experience the unity that is greater than the sum of it's parts, both individually & collectively.
Those moments are to be experienced, not analyzed.
It's a paradox, the minute you think about it, analysis it, you move out of the experience.
The ability to surrender to that state of being increases with practice.
Wonderful Q!
Many Blessings!

It's yourself. There is this silence energy which is the magic and your unknown self or the true self as, what you are now is, your compromised self according to the environment or the system or society or religion or somewhat related to acceptance etc. We are not living ourselves truthfully as we really wish to or we don't even know what we really want to because we have never been given the chance to explore to be ourselves.
