getting a replacement camera from seller off amazon?

How can I get something replaced or exchanged?

Exchanges:

If you received a defective item and need to exchange it for the same item, visit our Online Returns Centre to request a replacement.

1) If you bought it from a seller via amazon's market place then it has nothing to do with amazon(but they might help)

(are you sure it was sold as "new" or "used")

2) if you bought it in may and its just gone wrong (I make that near enough 6 months) and it was sold as NEW then the ONLY remedy you have is to sue and YOU show that it was not of merchantable quality (cos there is an implied warranty of 6 months on NEW goods, after which YOU have to show it was not of merchantable quality). If you have no idea as to the sellers identity or their location then you have nobody to sue

3) Even with the best will in the world its not likely after 6 months you will get a replacement - And thats assuming you can get in touch with the seller and they co-operate

4) a guarantee is only as good as the person giving it. If push comes to shove a guarantee from an online seller is worthless if you have no idea who and where they are

(This is one of the BIG drawbacks with online purchases-

Yes you can get things a lot cheaper. But you can be really stuffed if they go wrong, cos you might have no idea who and where the goods actually came from)

Yes, contact Amazon direct and ask them to help. They do seem to have an excellent customer service. I've always found Amazon to be 100% better than ebay for buying things!
