Is it safe to restore brand new iPhone 4S with a backup of my iPod touch?

I just purchased an iPhone 4S. I'd like to have the songs from my iPod on my iPhone to cut down on the amount of devices I carry with me. Is it safe to restore the iPhone with a backup of the iPod? Are there any known problematic outcomes stemming from doing this? Thanks!

    If it wasn't safe, they (apple) wouldn't have include that option, right? So yes it is safe

    Just put iTunes on your computer, transfer from iPod to iphone
