After college I want to move to Quebec...?

I am currently going to college for graphic design and I am going to be(as of next semester) taking French. After college I was hoping to immigrate to Quebec(or maybe France). I know they are completely different in most ways, but I like them both a lot.

I was wondering if taking French in college will help my chances of successfully immigrating post college or transferring to a French/Quebecois University.

Living in Quebec, or France will be a problem if you have only a few months of French.

I had three years of university French major and a year of residence in France and three years in Quebec and I still had trouble writing business documents in French.

There are English language universities in Quebec, McGill for example.

I've lived in Quebec my whole life, Montreal and you may have a problem with the language, all the signs in quebec are written in french but the majority of the people in montreal can speak english too! And there are a lot of english universities you can go to! Or you can go to cegep which is before university and you can do a graphic design program for 3 years and then be done school which can be an option too! But regardless of where you're moving good luck!!

Use the link below to go to the Canadian Immigration website.

There will be all kinds of helpful information there on how to go about applying...

Now, keep one thing in mind - Quebequois is NOT "French." It is a dialect of French. If you're learning the usual "Parisian" French that 99% of programs outside of Quebec teach, you will STILL have to learn "Quebecer French" once you move.

HOWEVER, the French courses *will* help with you application.

    Good Luck!

It took me 13 years to learn my french (I'm an anglophone, grew up in Montreal). You need better then basic reading, writing and speaking in french because everything is done in french here. Road signs, menus, labels, , documents, job interviews...cops don't like speaking english either so they will only answer you in french. Also your gonna be paying a sh*t load of taxes, however, Montreal is a great city but you will not survive with basic french skills. These french people will eat you alive.

I don't think taking French will up or lower your chances because Canada lets anyone in. If you apply, you'll get in no worries. I know theres a test you have to take in order to stay for a while, but if you don't pass you can re-take it. So no worries, you'll make it :)
