Help with first ear piercing. Tragus. Tips, Cleaning, and advice?
So I got up the courage last night and decided to get my tragus pierced. It went great, hardly any pain, no blood but I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to taking care of it. I know that a tragus piercing has a higher chance of getting infected that lobe piercings.
How many times a day should I clean it? How long should I continue cleaning it/how long does it take to heal.
Any other tips would be great :) thanks

If you take care of the piercing properly and went to a professional, it does not have a higher chance of infection than anything else.
You want to clean it 2-3 times a day with a mixture of noniodized sea salt (1/4 tsp) and a cup of warm-hot water. Submerge your piercing in this solution for a few minutes. A q-tip can be used to wipe off any discharge afterward, but dipping a q-tip into the solution and running it around your piercing doesn't do much.
The healing time can be anywhere around 6 months or more and, ideally, you should be cleaning it regularly up until that point. Even if you're not able to do the salt soaks daily, rinse it real well with a scent and dye free soap in the shower at least.

it's a common first professional piercing so they might be confusing the drainage and redness for infection (gun piercing studs often don't allow for the drainage). it's winter so be sure to keep it warm - metal is a heat sink and frostbit piercings are no fun. soak and clean it once a day with salt water and pay attention for the point when your body tells you to pull back on the schtick. and remember to poke the piercer if something funky happens.
