How much does a psychiatrist cost for a frequent visitor?

Frequent being, they ask that you see them twice a week. It's not a whole "I need to see someone today so ill make an appointment at will" thing. Do they get discounts or do they really have to pay the 100 dollar hour sessions everytime they go.

Mine costs 30 dollars because I have insurance.

And that does not include my medication.

I'm not sure, but they make a killing off us sick people...it sucks.

Here in the states, it is quite costly, every time you go to one. However, sometimes there is state agencies that will do a sliding scale, or even free, depending on your income. Some states even offer assistance for those that need help. So you just have to ask around. Also there is some wonderful 12-Step programs that work well, if you work the program. One in particular is EA (Emotions Anonymous). But they are hard to find. Also Ala-non works well, even if you don't know somebody that is an alcoholic. Look in your cities phone book and see what is listed under Mental Health.

Here in NZ they don't do discounts and I really don't think they will where you are either. Seeing a private shrink will cost you thousands. Can't you see one in the public system?
