What's Southern Driving Route from Buffalo, NY to Las Vegas, NV?

I'm FINALLY making my move from Buffalo, NY to Las Vegas, NV, in January, 2012. Map Quest is providing the Northern Route from Buffalo to LV. I need the Southern Route because of the snow/ice/mountains. Does anyone have a web address, route, map, etc.? I haven't called my AAA yet for a route plan. A few AAA maps I've used, for shorter distances, have contained very frustrating errors.

I would sincerely appreciate any directions or advice, such as tricky areas and what to seek/avoid enroute. Thank you!

Update:

Thank you so much, James! I was able to use the information you provided to find a Southern Route. When I researched your map from Buffalo. More than 1/2 the route you provided had considerable amounts of snow in Jan/Feb, 2011, including my route through Oklahoma. I can't handle DAYS of snow/ice/black-ice/mountains. I reversed your driving directions, until I found a dusting of snow in January, 2011, then searched from there.

Buffalo, NY to Washington, DC (my college stomping ground), Virginia, Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and Las Vegas,Nevada.

It's a longer drive, but less frightening.( I wasn't able to reach an AAA Trip-Tik agent, after multiple calls.)

No matter which way u go u r going to hit mountains and snow somewhere but the way with the least amount would be 90 west to 71 south to 70 west to 44 west to 40 west to US 93 north. That way u go west towards Cleveland, south towards Columbus, west towards Saint Louis, west towards OK City, West towards Albuquerque and Flagstaff and then North to Vegas, but there isn't a city besides Vegas on that list that doesn't see snow, but u do avoid the High Plains and going through Denver and The Rockies
