Why doesn't Family Court order a confirmed addict the ultimatum for rehab or jail to save the addict's life?
My daughter lost permanent custody of her children through Family Court. My daughter was given a mandated drug test which showed very high levels of (crystal) methamphetamines, amphetamines and marijuana. Why didn't the Family Court and/or her defense attorney provide a Court Ordered ultimatum stating my daughter must either enter rehab or go to jail to save her life? As her mother my hands are tied. I'm told that my adult daughter must enter rehab voluntarily and there's no chance of that.
10 AnswersLaw & Ethics5 years agoDo all rooms have to be baited if neighbor just started getting German Roaches in the kitchen?
A neighbor just got German Roaches on her apartment kitchen. Since bait traps attract roaches, is it necessary to bait her entire house or just the kitchen area? The apartment has already been thoroughly cleaned and a professional exterminator has come. There are a few late comers in 2 areas only at the refrigerator and sink areas. Glue traps have been everywhere throughout the apartment. There are no other signs.
1 AnswerOther - Home & Garden6 years agoHow To Remove Acrylic Resin Casting Sandpaper Scratches?
I just removed acrylic resin from a silicone mold and foolishly sanded across to remove some very minor bubbles. I used 800 grit wet/dry sandpaper without water. After weeks of studying how to properly work with acrylic resin and carefully layering this (last June) birthday gift of a 5" wing span Blue Darner Dragonfly so it would 't be ruined, I've scratched the entire clear surface. I'll see my GS next week. This was the only clear side of the acrylic. The other side is "frosted" from the mold itself. BTW, the best insect acrylic result was using Tupperware to encase a Praying Mantis - when I ran out silicone containers. How can I remove these sandpaper scratches and be sure no additional harm will be done? Thank you for any advice! (These insects were dead when found).
2 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)7 years agoWhat do I do about a son that never registered, insured or titled my old car and lives across the country?
It's been over 2 years since I've moved across the US. I sold my car to my son prior to moving but he never turned in the license plates, registered or insured the car. I did insure the car for 2 years to protect myself and allow him to "get back on his feet" after he lost his job and his home. I cannot afford to fly back to that suburban city, (and don't know where my son is living) especially just to remove the plates and turn them in to DMV. The car is 7 years old. I can't legally take the car because I signed the Title over. Is there a "service" that can remove the plates for me?
2 AnswersInsurance & Registration7 years agoYour Advice Needed on 2012 New Car?
I'm seeking your advice on choosing a Volkswagen Jetta, Hyunda Tucson or Toyota Prius V. I'll be the only passenger using the car- primarily for short trips but occasionally for camping and trips across the desert and mountains. The Prius V pick-up concerns me with the conversion on the mountain inclines, The Jetta's clean diesel engine concerns me as diesel is more expensive than unleaded gas and more difficult to find in some locations. I liked the Tucson, but the dealer tried to convince me to buy new and used cars sitting in the lot, that I didn't want, and said he "can't order" the red color I requested! I haven't been to the Jetta dealer yet. (It's a metropolitan city that has a very limited amount of car dealers, especially near a bus route.)
I'd especially love to hear the pro's and con's if you own/owned one of these cars.
Thank you for any input you may provide.
6 AnswersBuying & Selling9 years agoMy toilet bowl keeps slowly filling up. What's going on?
Here are the details:
I live in a mobile home.
This problem is happening without even flushing.
I'm in NY so it's 14 degrees outside.
My bathtub is connected to the same drainage pipe and it seems I can continuously run the bath water without the bathtub or toilet backing up.
Does anyone know what my problem(s) is(are), and how I could fix it?
Thank you!
11 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs9 years agoSelling Car: Who to? Repair first?
Selling car due to relocation. Should I repair 2007 Ford Focus SES, with 75,000 mi, and a $2000 body repair estimate, or not?
Should I focus on selling the car to my dealer (who did all sched. maint.), a body shop, or outright? Other than Craigslist, where would you advertise to sell outright?
There have been no mechanical issues with the Ford Focus. Kelly Blue Book's value at "Good" condition (solely because of body damage) is $8800. Kelly Blue Book's price changes swiftly and doesn't list the options the Ford has and are needed in our Northeast area, like heated seats and mirrors.
I really need your advice at this busy time. Thank you.
2 AnswersBuying & Selling10 years agoWhat's Southern Driving Route from Buffalo, NY to Las Vegas, NV?
I'm FINALLY making my move from Buffalo, NY to Las Vegas, NV, in January, 2012. Map Quest is providing the Northern Route from Buffalo to LV. I need the Southern Route because of the snow/ice/mountains. Does anyone have a web address, route, map, etc.? I haven't called my AAA yet for a route plan. A few AAA maps I've used, for shorter distances, have contained very frustrating errors.
I would sincerely appreciate any directions or advice, such as tricky areas and what to seek/avoid enroute. Thank you!
2 AnswersOther - United States10 years agoWhy aren't "Affordable Income Rentals" affordable?
Postponing relocation to get a "perfect match", I'm wondering why "Affordable Income Rentals" are classified as such? After a security deposit, application fee, first month's rent, last month's rent, pet deposits (N/A), moving expenses, flights to and from my Home State to my Relocation State for apt. viewing, Hotels, Meals, rental cars, utility deposits, Amenities I will NEVER use at my preferred apartments that INCREASE my rental prices, and normal move-in expenses, I'm wondering here the word "Affordable" got lost? LOL
P.S. I'm a 61 yr old, moving for health reasons, from a cold/wet climate to a warm/dry climate.
4 AnswersRenting & Real Estate10 years agoHow do i re-turn on gas to water heater?
I shut off the entire water heater one week ago, until locating and fixing a large bathroom leak. Now that it's time to relight the pilot manual ignition, I cannot hear the gas feeding into the line. I've turned on the circuit breaker, the gas line valve is parallel to the gas line, depressed the gas valve on the tank to PILOT, etc. tried lighting, yet nothing happens. After 4-5 attempts, there has been no gas smell, either. My gas company won't help, Mobile Home Repair says min. $80.00 to fix. What's your advise for a 60 yr old female DIYer?
6 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)1 decade agoMoving from Buffalo, in March, 2010. Las Vegas or Phoenix? Low Sale price, high taxes scare me.?
60 yr old female buying an approximately <$90,000 single, detached home. No mortgage. I will have approximately <$200,000 left (with very conservative interest). My only income is Social Security Disability. When I move, do I have to worry about the taxes on my home doubling, or tripling, over the next 10 years? Can I afford to live very modestly? I don't go out to dinner or buy make-up, clothes, etc. My hobbies are "beginners" home repairs/refinishing. I own a recent-model car and live in an apt, although I have owned 2 homes in the past. I would sincerely like your advise/opinions.

2 AnswersPhoenix1 decade agoActually, belladonna112 was correct. I kept researching & working on it. After 4 days it worked!?
I needed that knowledge of one "hot" wire. Then, my only other problem was, the nut wouldn't connect to the coiled ground wires. (I had the knowledge, but not the strength). It had was off when the box was opened and probably was why the switch wasn't working. After that was resolved, voila! Belladonna, I don't have the $80 you saved me (other projects already started), but I be happy to donate my "first born" (child)!
1 AnswerDo It Yourself (DIY)1 decade agoMy thank you belladonna112?
Thank you so very, very much belladonna 112. You don't have any idea how much I appreciate your help!!!
1 AnswerMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoHow many wires should be "hot" when you install a wall toggle switch? I have 1 of 4. Is that right?
Replacing a wall toggle switch in an old mobile home. Ground was on same side as hot wire. New switches have them on opposite side. I've moved the ground and located the "hot" wire on the new switch. I also
had to cut off the back wire from the old switch (it's "cold") should it be "hot"? The other wire for the top screw is also "cold". Should this one be "hot"? I can't get a simple answer from the hardware stores,
electricians, or internet. Please help. The quote I received was $80 to
change this 1 switch and I have several more to change. The breaker for my stove, bedroom and bathroom lights are off until this switch is fixed.
3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoDifference between psych problems and brain injuries?
I'm seeing a psychiatrist, counselor and memory drs. how can i discern
between psychiatric problems and confirmed brain abnormalities? They
all seem to overlap. Major problems are extreme mood swings (mostly depressive), borderline personality disorder, altered personality, math., etc. (I was beaten for 40 years). My multiple psychiatric diagnoses exhibit strongly or softly most of the time, & I just learned yesterday some of what the brain abnormalities (frontal and parietal lobes,
I think she mentioned temperal lobes also) are reflecting. e.g. I remember what most of what I read but not what I hear. Please, can u differentiate for me? I'd be grateful for ANY information. THANK YOU!1
