Can I run Civ V without an internet connection?
Hi,
I want to get Civ V for my laptop, but I will soon be working on a cruise ship so I will rarely have an internet connection. I understand that the DRM is being run with Steam. Does this mean that I need and internet connection to play it? Does it matter if I get the DVD version or just download it?
Are you saying that I need to go online EVERY time I want to play it and then can go offline, or once I've been online with it I can start it anytime, even if I'm offline.

It doesn't matter which one you get, all CivV editions end up in Steam.
You can play offline, but you have to prepare for it. Start Steam in online mode like normal, and then there's an option to restart Steam in Offline Mode. Once you do that, you can use Steam and any of its games without being online.
