I was wrongly given best answer, can I get it changed?

I got "best answer" for a math problem, but when I looked at the question I realised I'd made a mistake, and there was another answer that was correct. Can I get the points given to the other person? Or can the answer I gave be removed? The person who asked the question can't be contacted by email, so I can't tell them I made an error.

I doubt that Y!A would remove the answer as long as it isn't a community guidelines violation, which it doesn't seem like it would be even though it is incorrect.

Nor can you give the points away to the other answerer. You can't contact the asker, so all you can do is use the option to go back to the question and leave a comment correcting your answer (Comment link is on the Action Bar beneath the resolved question). No guarantee that the asker will see the comment but at least you have corrected yourself for future readers of the question.

You could write the team to remove the question, but changing the BA or moving points can not happen. You could also have users report your BA to have it and the question removed.

If you just want to email the Yahoo Answers staff, then their email address is:

    US: y_answrs_team@yahoo.com

    UK: y_answrs_team_uk@yahoo.co.uk

    AU: y_answrs_team_au@yahoo.com.au

(the missing 'e' in 'answers' is intentional)

You should see if you can email the asker to correct the answer.
