When I first set up my RRSPs over 20 years ago, RBC were the ones in charge of it. I had requested to be set up for something like "70% stocks, 20% bonds, 10% Tbills" based on my comfort level and lack of knowledge at the time of exactly how RRSPs work. I relied on them to do this for me. A few years later, I found out that they had messed up and put me in 70% bonds instead of 70% stocks, which if the funds had performed as expected would have meant I would have lost out on an opportunity to have my retirement money earn more.
It actually worked out for the best because the markets plunged and stock funds tanked around the time of the Bre-X gold mining scandal, so I actually saved money that would have been lost in the market had my fund ratio been reversed. However, since it is NOT what I had requested, I was not happy. I would have expected financial advisors and bank people to be more careful about this sort of thing. I now have a self-directed RRSP handled by a different bank.
I would mention that EVERY bank can have a branch that does not provide you with the service you would expect, and it does not matter about the company. If you are not happy with the service, your best approach is to see your branch manager and explain your displeasure with their bank. See what they are willing to do for you. And if you are just not happy overall, perhaps visiting another branch or a different bank would be waht you need to do.
You may want to check if there is a TD Bank in your area. I have heard a lot of good things about them. They are not my bank at this time, but if I ever switch, that is likely my destination. They may be able to give you certain bonuses and benefits just for switching from RBC.

I haven't had a bad experience every time I dealt with a customer service rep, whether in person or on the phone. They also respond quickly and properly to all my email questions too. So, no I don't think they have the worst customer service in Canada.

I've had some experience dealing with RBC and another bank with my mother's accounts and her estate. RBC came in second.
Of course that doesn't prove it's the worst.

RBC is a good bank. If you want to see what is bad bank with rude staff, just go to ATB( no tap & pay or inerac online payments)
