why does my smartphone re-send old email?
My phone (Android) will sometimes re-post old email messages from 1 to 3 days before. Is this the carrier's issue? The phone connects to the same email account as on my desktop and it doesn't happen there, so why just the phone?
1 AnswerMobile Phones & Plans8 years agoWhat are the characters in "Sitting Pretty"?
Does anyone have a breakdown of the characters in "Sitting Pretty" by Amy Rosenthal?
1 AnswerTheater & Acting9 years agoDo you know any other popular songs with only one chord?
Listening to the radio; heard Wilson Pickett doing "Land of a Thousand Dances" and I thought:are there any other rock, pop, soul, R and B etc. songs that are played on only one chord?
(I don't think rap can count here because it's too unlike the others)
2 AnswersRock and Pop9 years agoHave any of the contestants on Wipeout suffered a serious injury?
They're well protected but some of the falls are brutal.
1 AnswerReality Television9 years agoWho owned the tea that went into the harbour at the Boston Tea Party?
This was a valuable cargo. Was the owner compensated? Insurance? Taken by itself the Tea Party was an act of theft and vandalism. And a fellow American suffered because of it. Anyone care about the poor guy who lost his cargo?
1 AnswerHistory9 years agoIf the American CIvil war had never happened what would have been the effect on slavery?
Would the USA have been a country with slaves into the 1870's? The 1880's? The twentieth century?
5 AnswersHistory9 years agoWhy do Americans think marijuana is legal in Canada?
Where did that myth come from? Is it widespread or just some clueless people who believe it?
8 AnswersOther - Canada10 years agoAny Americans having second thoughts about the "separation of powers" in their constitution?
I'm talking about the debt ceiling issue obviously. The British-derived parliamentary systems have their own glitches but they don't get the executive-legislative deadlock that seems to plague the US.
2 AnswersGovernment10 years agoDoes anyone else get annoyed when they see "actress and model" written as a single phrase.?
If you're serious about acting, modelling is a whole different world. If an actress was introduced as "actress -and-model" in a play I was in I'd be very sceptical until she proved she had real acting chops.
4 AnswersTheater & Acting10 years agoIn "True Blood" when they have the flashbacks to Eric's past, what language are they speaking?
Did they get someone to reconstruct what the Vikings spoke or are they just speaking Swedish or Norwegian or something?
3 AnswersDrama10 years agoIn "Bones" have Temperance and Booth ever had sex (with each other lol)?
I can only watch once in a while so I can't follow the long-term stories.
1 AnswerDrama10 years agoIn "Bull Durham" what is the advice Kevin Costner gives to Tim Robbins about talking to sportswriters?
I sort of remember stuff about "one game at a time" and "110%" but I'd like to get the exact quote
2 AnswersMovies10 years agoLes Miserables character names: what's the significance?
The names of the characters in Les Miserables don't seem like any real French names I've ever heard (Fantine, Eponine, Enjolras. etc.) Did they have some symbolic/emotional significance that French speakers of the time would have recognized but we don't?
4 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoDoes the American Constitution specify what state governments must be like?
For example specify what the division of powers between governor and legislature is, and whether there has to be a two-house legislature. Could a state establish a Brit/Canadian parliamentary style government if it got the notion?
Interested non-American
2 AnswersGovernment1 decade agoWhy do some American states have unusual boundaries?
Well, I crossed the border at Buffalo and was driving west toward Cleveland when I realized I was in Pennsylvania for a short time before I got to the Ohio border. Looked at the map: Pennsylviania had this little neck of land going north to touch Lake Erie.
And then I noticed that New Hampshire has an Atlantic coastline; a little stretch that sneaks down to touch the ocean.
So, Americans, what's the story here. Did these involve some wheeling and dealing when the boundaries were set?

1 AnswerLanguages1 decade agoDo cats shed their fur more when they're frightened or distressed?

(Took cat to vet this morning and have the usual fur all over my T-shirt)
8 AnswersCats1 decade agoDo you see a big difference between theatre as literature and theatre as performance.?
I'm asking because I read questions from people which is obviously their homework about themes, dramatic devices, etc etc, which is worthwhile knowing if you want to be educated. But my experience of acting tells me that stuff doesn't help at all in telling me how to perform the play.
Does anyone find that literary critiques of a play help in any way in performing the thing?
